Nostalgia

I started writing this few days back. I could finish it today, so posting it now.

Today afternoon I put my daughter down for a nap and was going through the Internet. It was drizzling outside and the sun was playing peekaboo. I started remembering my old school days in Bangalore, India during monsoon.

It was such a sweet time back then. Our world consisted of school, homework, friends, home, tv and evening strolls to gandhibazar with parents. I just want to go back to that moment and never grow up.

A day in those days consisted of mom trying hard to wake me up in the morning and the lazy me who wanted to sleep for some more time everyday. Then I would wake up, get ready and walk or get dropped by dad to school. It was fun to catch up friends in the class, wait for the teachers to come.

Then would come the best part of the day. Most of the times I wouldn't carry my lunch bag from home in the morning. My mom would prepare food and she would bring it to school during lunch break. It would be exciting to think about what would I eat for lunch. I would start imagining all the yummy things that I liked.

During lunch, I and my friends would chitchat and talk about all the gossips. After all, it was the best time to catch up on gossips. We would finish our lunch and classes would start as usual. We would sit through the classes yawning and waiting for the time to go faster so that we could go home.

Finally the bell would ring and hurriedly we would stuff the books back into our bags, pack the bag and head home. I would eat some snacks, do the homework and sit watching tv, waiting for dad to come home. When my dad would come home, there were few days during the week where we would go out, have some snacks, do some shopping and come home.

Then it was time for bed. Life was so simple and easy back then. I was the princess at home, with all my wishes fulfilled by my parents. No worries, no big tensions!

We all must have had some wonderful memories in the past. It was my try at making you relive those moments as you read this!

A new day, a new start: Since I got busy with various little things and I got bored of taking pictures and posting, I stopped with the days and pics thingy. So let me start something today. I have the habit of browsing for new recipes, making some modifications and trying them out. I also have the habit of not making a note of the ingredients and the way of cooking later. So, in future when I try to reproduce the same recipe(since I liked it the first time) I am lost completely. So to address the above issue :), let me make a note for myself about a recipe that I tried and liked. No fancy stuff! Just simple steps! Sorry no pics today.. I tried Chana masala today and I liked it a lot. So here is how it goes, Chana Masala Soak kabul chana the previous night. Bake it in the pressure cooker with a little water. In a pan, add oil. Saute cumin seeds, fennel seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, ginger, garlic, green chilies, onion, tomato, turmeric, melon seeds. Once the above m...
